Aims & Objectives

The Grange Kabaddi Group promotes the sport of Kabaddi amongst young people, delivers coaching and training programmes to encourage the development of Kabaddi as a vehicle to promote an inclusive and diverse society.

The GKG is a voluntary organisation based at Grange School in Oldham. It has a team of qualified male and female coaches who are trained in delivering Kabaddi.

The Learning Mentors at Grange introduced Kabaddi during a summer school in 2005. The game became so popular amongst the pupils that the learning mentors decided to take it more seriously.

With support from our school and funding from Awards for All we now have a team of qualified Kabaddi coaches.

The team currently run lunchtime, after schooland summer school activities.

The project will increase and sustain life-long participation in Kabaddi and improve the level and quality of delivery through a variety of coaching schemes and the development of educational coaching.

The project will increace participation in sports by BME communities, women, girls and people with disabilities .

The project will use participation in Kabaddi as means to improve health promote social inclusion and comunity cohesion.
